ROTASIA 2011-An Unbelievable Spectacle   Leave a comment

13th-16th January 2011, Goa

For those who are not aware, Rotasia is the biggest event in the South-East Asia Rotaract calendar. It was the first time that 30 members of Rotaract Waknaghat (under R.I Distt. 3080) participated in this large youth international convention. This time Rotasia was held in the unmatched tourist destination of the country –GOA.

The whole programme was broadly divided into four segments –ceremonies, competitions, fun and learning. The event started on 13th January with the inaugural ceremony in ‘Dinanath Mangeshkar Kala Academy’ Panjim, Goa (The main venue for rotasia 2011).District march was held after the inaugural function. Around 60 odd members from our district followed our DRR. Rtr. Neha Chopra along with IPDRR Mr Satinder Singh in a queue with the banner of the district “3080” shouting slogans. DJ night was organized after the district parade. It was real fun. Everybody danced like crazy and had a ball. People from different countries had put on different dancing shoes. It was great fun to watch the Lankans going berserk and dancing like no one’s watching.

Cultural competitions (singing & dancing) and Mr. and Ms. Rotasia competition was also organized during the event. This was the event which made the distt. 3080 very proud as both the titles were bagged by our district. Rtr.  Tejasvi Harloyan Singh from Chandigarh won the Mr. Rotasia title and Rtr. Ayushi Agarwal, our very own Media Representative won the coveted Ms Rotasia title. A very well deserved win by the dedicated and hardworking rotaractors which made not only them but the whole district jump in joy. So proud was the district. It couldn’t have got any better !!!

Rotasia was a great mix of education and entertainment. It provided us an opportunity to listen and interact with eminent personalities such as Shri Digambar Kamat, Hon Chief Minister of Goa who gave the inaugural address. Also the session with Dr Bharat Chandra on the secrets of success and mind power was very inspiring. The rotaractors also spent a fun and frolic day visiting Goan churches, exotic sea beaches, enjoying Goan delicacies, Goan music, night clubs and adventurous sports and finally a splendid dance party by the Candolim beach follower by toothsome dinner.

On the last day one could still see people sitting in groups. But this time people from different countries were sitting in one group. An amazing view. The feeling of being one had arrived in Rotasia and before we could realize Rotasia 2011 had already achieved its purpose.

This rare opportunity fulfilled a rotaractor’s dream of ‘meeting’, ‘interacting’, ‘learning’, and ‘jingling’ with the rotractors of 38 rotaract district of South-east Asia making them the four most unforgettable days of one’s Rotaract life.

Looking forward to ROTASIA 2012 in Nepal!!!!!!

Regards,

SANCHITA AGARWAL
